Meet the Staff

Our goal at FBC Salado is to serve the body of Christ that has chosen our community as their church home. We work together to support all the vital ministries and functions of our church including our facilities, our Sunday and Wednesday church gatherings, our children, youth and adult ministries, and our parnterships with other churches and organizations in the Salado Community.

Senior Pastor

Dr. Travis Burleson

Travis Burleson grew up in the small central Texas town of Mart, where as a young boy he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  Travis went on to attend Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.  Midway through his sophomore year, challenged by God's call, he began to seek God's purpose for his life.  Upon changing majors, the doors of ministry began to open and Travis went on to earn a degree in Speech Communications.  After college, he earned his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and then later earned his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary

Having served in churches across Texas and Kansas, he came to FBC Salado in 2008. FBC now has a membership of over 1,000 and has grown into an integral part of the larger Central Texas area. In addition, the church has developed international church partnerships in Haiti, Mexico, Mali, Peru, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. FBC has also now sent volunteer missionaries to at least 15 different Countries worldwide, and has been recognized annually for the last 9 years as a Top-Level Giving Church Per Capita for the Lottie Moon (international) Mission Offering given through the Cooperative Program.

Dr. Burleson is a creative communicator who incorporates real life experiences and practical insight into his messages to effectively share God's Word with his listeners.  He has preached revival/renewal weeks overseas, led pastor/leadership renewal weekends across the Border, and is a sought after speaker for banquets, commencements, and retreats.

His passions in ministry include practical exposition of the Bible, leadership development, enhancing prayer ministries, and mobilizing the local church for mission endeavors. He is currently drafting a devotional book based on his father’s journal and the life-lessons therein.

Travis met his life-partner Terri, (also an A&M graduate) on a blind date in college.  They have one daughter, Lydia, two sons, Lane and Travis, one frisky Lab, and two typical cats.  Among Travis' hobbies are outdoor activities including: fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, canoeing, and traveling.  He also enjoys playing golf, watching football, and restoring antiques.

With a strong heritage in Texas history and Baptist life, Dr. Burleson's ancestors include General Edward Burleson, the first person buried at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, and Dr. Rufus C. Burleson, whose statue appears on the campus of Baylor University.

Dr. Burleson has served as an Adjunct Texas History Lecturer in various elementary schools, an organizational Board Member for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (F.C.A.), and a Public Address/Stadium Announcer for several Central Texas high schools. Locally, he serves on the Board of Trustees at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, and is Director of Player Development for Salado ISD Athletic Department.
